Our Syllabus

Our syllabus is carefully structured to provide students with a well-rounded and authentic Islamic education. Beginning with Qaidah (foundational Arabic reading), students progress to Qur’an recitation, Surah memorisation, and the study of Tajweed to ensure accurate and beautiful recitation.

Alongside this, we teach core Islamic sciences including Aqidah (beliefs), Fiqh (Islamic law), Hadith, Seerah (the life of the Prophet ﷺ), Islamic History, Akhlāq (morality), Adab (manners), Athkār (daily supplications) and Mashq (group recitation) to reinforce learning and confidence. We use the trusted Nasiha Publications series for Islamic Studies and Tajweed, ensuring structured, age-appropriate, and high-quality content throughout each stage of learning.

At Masjid Ayesha Madrasah, students begin their Qur’anic journey with Ahsanul Qawaid, a structured and widely respected foundational Qaidah. This stage focuses on correct letter recognition, articulation, joining of letters, and accurate pronunciation. Great emphasis is placed on mastering the Arabic alphabet and applying vowel sounds confidently. By building a strong foundation through Ahsanul Qawaid, students develop the essential skills required to transition smoothly into fluent Qur’an recitation with confidence and accuracy.

Tajweed is taught from the very beginning of a student’s journey. While learning Qaidah, students are introduced to correct articulation (Makharij) and basic pronunciation rules. As they progress to the Qur’an, they gradually learn and apply more advanced Tajweed rules, including Noon Sakin, Meem Sakin, Qalqalah, various types of Madd, and stopping rules. Tajweed is taught practically, with real-time correction during recitation, ensuring students not only understand the rules but consistently apply them. Our goal is for every student to recite the Qur’an as accurately and beautifully as possible.

We follow the structured Islamic Studies curriculum by Nasihah Publications. This series provides a comprehensive and age-appropriate understanding of Islam, covering Aqeedah (belief), Fiqh (practical worship), Seerah (life of the Prophet ﷺ), Islamic history, and character development. Lessons are delivered in an engaging and practical manner, helping students understand how to live Islam in their daily lives. As students progress through the books, their knowledge deepens, preparing them to face modern challenges with strong Islamic foundations.

As students progress to reading the Qur’an, we prioritise fluency, clarity, and confidence. We promote our 3-Rule Recitation Method: Read Clearly, Read Loudly, and Read Slowly. This approach ensures students pronounce every letter properly, recite with confidence, and avoid rushing through the verses. Teachers provide continuous correction and encouragement so that students develop smooth, consistent recitation while applying Tajweed rules correctly. Our aim is to produce confident reciters who respect the words of Allah and recite with care and precision.

Students memorise carefully selected Surahs from Juz ‘Amma and other key chapters of the Qur’an that they can incorporate into their daily Salah. Memorisation is done gradually with repetition, understanding, and regular revision to ensure retention. By the time students progress through the levels, they build a meaningful collection of Surahs that strengthen their prayer and deepen their connection to the Qur’an. The focus is not only on memorisation but also on correct pronunciation and confidence when reciting in Salah.

Students memorise a comprehensive collection of 100 Duas and Kalimahs throughout their time at the Madrasah. These include daily Duas for everyday activities, essential supplications, and the six Kalimahs with understanding. Emphasis is placed on pronunciation, meaning, and practical application so that students incorporate these Duas into their daily lives. This ensures that remembrance of Allah becomes part of their routine and strengthens their spiritual awareness both inside and outside the Madrasah.
